Jesus Knows Me, This I Love

Psalm 139: 1-6

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.  You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.

To be known is one of the most ingrained needs we have as human beings.   Marriage is about having our lives witnessed by another human being.  We want to know and we want to be known.   It’s a wonderful thing when we have folks in our lives who know us, our deep heart, and still love us and want to do life with us.   Our parents are the ones who have witnessed our lives from the beginning and typically are our greatest cheerleaders.  The bond, if the relationship is at all functional, is strong because of this.

At the same time, there is no one on the planet that knows us like Jesus knows us.  He knows us better than anyone, even ourselves.   He knows us, has known us, will always know us.  He knows the deepest, darkest secrets, motives and also all of those things we do that no one knows about that are positive.  (Let’s hope your list of those is long.)

As we live life before Him, for Him, and with Him, what floods in is purpose, meaning and fulfillment.  If we do everything we do for Him and not for others, we have just eliminated gallons of resentment from our lives.  If we find ourselves resenting others, it would be wise to examine what strings we may have put on our blessings toward others.

Be free.  Do it all for Jesus so that you will never feel taken advantage of or used or undervalued.

Take Away:  Jesus knows us and He loves us, just the way we are.  We are accepted in the Beloved.   Let us do all we do for Him so that we are free to love others, regardless of what they choose to do or not do.   Jesus will never under-appreciate any of us.  He loves us so much He chose to die.

Prayer:   Dear Lord, thank you for knowing me completely, fully, with nothing being hidden from You.   Thank you for loving me just the way I am.   Help me to do everything I do for You and You alone so that I can be free to love others as You have loved me.
