We Are Called

This devotional is going to take a different form than others because this was a different experience than others that I would like to share.

This past Sunday morning started out as an average morning.  In the shower, I knew the Lord was talking to me about things He’d been talking to me about all week.  What I didn’t know was that He was going to show up, upon me, more intensely than I have ever experienced. His presence was full and surrounding and I was completely overwhelmed by the love and anger in His heart.   He was angry at the church.  He was angry at me.  I started shaking and didn’t stop for over an hour. Within a period of time, I started crying and couldn’t stop that either.  I will never forget this encounter and from now on I can say I understand what “fear and trembling” means in scripture.   God is GOD and He won’t be mocked and He won’t be gentle when He is upset with His children.  And this is love.

Below is what came out of my fingers as I sat down at my computer, fully believing this was exactly what He wanted me to say.  I copied and pasted the scripture but didn’t read it because this is one that I know.  Later, I read back over this and realized I had never absorbed the second part wherein we are rebuked if we do not warn, not just the lost, but other believers.   I leave you with this and a pleading for you to seek His face.

_______________

Christians! If we truly believe what we say we do, then we must be authentic and unashamed. If we are saved by grace, and we see the lost, traveling a road that leads to their own destruction, is it LOVE to just smile, accept it and give them a big hug and a kiss? Find anywhere in scripture that this is what Jesus did- or Paul or Peter or any of them. God led His people to be watchmen! To give warning! Not to be silent and move on. And He holds us accountable if we don’t. He has brought us to Himself for this very purpose. (Read His word below- it should shake us in our boots!) Is it LOVE to see your neighbor’s house on fire and do nothing for fear they will be mad at you if you wake them from their sleep? That’s not love. Is it LOVE to yell and scream at them and tell them they are awful? No!!! God loves them just as much as He loves us. He loves them enough that He REQUIRES us to be the light! Is it God who would say be silent and move on when we see the enemy’s work expanding? It’s not just about us! It’s about our children, grandchildren, their grandchildren. Are we not willing to stand against the powers of darkness for their souls? What is our faith if we do nothing but stand by and watch darkness fall, even though the realities of Revelation predict such a day. Are we called to accept it? Is that what Jesus did? Chances are we ourselves would not know Him were that the case. Jesus LOVES like no other. We are to be like Him. He and all men of God throughout scripture gave warning to those “who had ears to hear”! Even today there are those who have ears to hear, deep in their soul, regardless of what their mouths profess. How dare we say nothing to protect our own reputations! God is no joke and He’s no marshmallow. He requires much of those to whom much has been given. Arise!

Ezekiel 3:17-21 “Son of man, I have appointed you a watchman to the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from My mouth, warn them from Me. “When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. “Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself. “Again, when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness and commits iniquity, and I place an obstacle before him, he will die; since you have not warned him, he shall die in his sin, and his righteous deeds which he has done shall not be remembered; but his blood I will require at your hand. “However, if you have warned the righteous man that the righteous should not sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; and you have delivered yourself.”
